Preparing to lead a guided meditation and discussion about ‘resilience and nature’ at our clinic meeting this week 🌴🩷
As you know, the topic of the last newsletter to GPs was the ‘health benefits of nature’. There is a growing evidence base for this.
In the meeting, we’ll explore this using one particular resource that I’ve personally engaged with and benefited from.
Taking part in a course called ‘Resilience and nature’ with meditation teacher Mark Coleman during 2020 helped me to understand that engaging with nature could a very effective way of helping people do some of the things that we know are helpful to their mental health such as:
– mindfulness (especially for those who find sitting with their eyes closed terrible!)
– being ok with change
– being ok with imperfection
– kindness
– grounding (especially for those that find other ways of grounding eg paying attention to their body upsetting)
– managing anxiety in being out of your comfort zone
– managing feelings about changes in our environment/weather
– feeling more connected
Even though I’m keen to explore it, I have not yet used this with clients. But in the meeting, we will get to begin to explore it together in a meditation that I’ll lead followed by some discussion.
