I am currently seeing clients in-person and via telehealth at Blue Mountains Clinic.

Michelle Genders is a registered Psychologist, registered Medicare Provider, and a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc. She has more 20 years’ work experience in private practice, non-government organisations including headspace, psychology research, employment services, disability services, tertiary education, hospitality, childcare, and visual art.

Michelle has a broad range of experience providing assessment and therapy for people with mild to severe mental health challenges such as anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and stress-based disorders. She also enjoys supporting life transitions (eg primary to high school, high school to the ‘adult world’, university to a profession, interpersonal relationships changes, relocating to a new area), stressful circumstances, self-understanding and self-improvement.

Michelle uses a range evidence-based trauma sensitive treatments adapted the client’s needs including psychoeducation, person-centred counselling, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT, DBT, ACT & Solution focused). She participates in regular supervision sessions and professional development to further develop her therapeutic skills.

Michelle has a special interest in treatment adapted to the client’s stage of life and therefore enjoys working with people across the lifespan (ie adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults). She is developing additional skills in experiential therapy in particular art therapy, adapting treatment for neurodiversity, and the development of resilience and post-traumatic growth.

Things are going really well with the two clinic that I’m working out of at the moment. I’ll be focusing on doing good work in these contexts for the time being.

My own business ‘Creative Conversationsis quietly being built up in the background as of 2023. That means that I’m not able to see clients as part of my own business yet. I have lots of exciting plans for the future though!

If you’d like to see me for psychological therapy, then please do contact Blue Mountains Clinic directly.
